Dr. Haroon Zafar is a Principal Investigator at the Lambe Institute for Translational Research and Programme Lead for MSc in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Galway. He completed his PhD in Biomedical/Medical Physics and Engineering from the University of Galway (Ireland), Erasmus Mundus MSc in Photonics and Optoelectronic Devices from the University of St. Andrews and Heriot-Watt University (UK), MSc Eng in Photonics Engineering from Ghent University and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) and BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering. His research spans the continuum from basic scientific research through to translational and clinical research which constitutes the true meaning of the phrase “bench-to-bedside” research and focuses on artificial intelligence in medicine, digital health, MedTech/medical device innovation, biomedical/medical physics and engineering.
