Biography

Mary Batista received her BSc degree in Chemistry (2001) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Between 1998 and 2001, she received a scientific initiation grant (CNPq) and developed her research work on lanthanides complexes with organic ligands. From 2001 to 2003 she had a master grant (CNPq) and developed the research work in the synthesis and characterization of zinc sulphides type Zn(1-X)MSX. In 2003, she received her MSc in chemistry from the same institution. She received her PhD in 2008 from the University of Porto in Organic Synthesis. Between 2009 and 2010 she was a pos-doc (FCT) at the Instituto Tecnologico e Nuclear de Lisboa. There, she developed the research work in DOTA-like chelator for labeling biomolecules with radiometals for cancer diagnostics and therapy. Between 2011 and 2012 she had a visiting researcher grant (CAPES) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. In 2013, she started a post-doc grant (FCT) in collaboration between Adsorption and Adsorbent Materials Group from CQB (FCUL) and Chemical Engineering Reaction Group from REQUIMTE (UNL-FCT). Currently, she is a researcher at the Adsorption and Adsorbent Materials Group and has been developing adsorbent materials from solid residues and by-products of biodiesel production for gas separation processes as is the case of gas mixtures (ethanol/ethane and propane/propene).
