Biography

Dr. Weibin Song is a professor and doctoral studies supervisor at China Agricultural University. Currently, he is mainly engaged in research on corn functional genomics and molecular breeding. In recent years, he has relied on innovation platforms such as the National Corn Improvement Center of China Agricultural University to carry out functional genomics research on important agronomic traits of high-yield and high-quality corn. For example, he cloned the regulatory genes Mn6, Smk10, OS1 and HSP90.6, which are associated with the control of corn grain filling, providing new ideas for the genetic improvement of corn kernel traits. He also cloned a new maize haploid-inducing gene, ZmPLD3, which can cooperate with other haploid-inducing genes to increase maize haploid induction efficiency 6–7 times. He serves as a member of the National Agricultural Genetically Modified Organism Safety Management Standardization Technical Committee and is an editorial board member of international academic journals such as BMC Genomics and IJMS.
