Health information technology, applied to electronic health record (EHR), has evolved with the adoption of standards for defining patient health records. However, there are many standards for defining such data, hindering communication between different healthcare providers. Even with adopted standards, patients often need to repeatedly provide their health information when they are taken care of at different locations. This problem hinders the adoption of personal health record (PHR), with the patients' health records under their own control. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to propose an interoperability model for PHR use. The methodology consisted prototyping an application model named OmniPHR, to evaluate the structuring of semantic interoperability and integration of different health standards, using a real database from anonymized patients. We evaluated health data from a hospital database with 38,645 adult patients' medical records processed using different standards, represented by openEHR, HL7 FHIR, and MIMIC-III reference models. OmniPHR demonstrated the feasibility to provide interoperability through a standard ontology and artificial intelligence with natural language processing (NLP). Although the first executions reached a 76.39% F1-score and required retraining of the machine-learning process, the final score was 87.9%, presenting a way to obtain the original data from different standards on a single format. Unlike other models, OmniPHR presents a unified, structural semantic and up-to-date vision of PHR for patients and healthcare providers. The results were promising and demonstrated the possibility of subsidizing the creation of inferences rules about possible patient health problems or preventing future problems.

In this article, we describe a real-time system for prosthetic hands control. The system architecture includes the integration of the electromyographic (EMG) signal acquisition devices, platform for the implementation of the real-time classifier, sensors for the detection of object slip after grasp and the open-source hand prosthesis. Three databases were used to evaluate the implemented classifiers: a database with EMG data from local volunteers and NinaPro DB2 and DB3 databases that include electromyography and accelerometry (ACC) data acquisitions. A Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) classifier was implemented on a platform for rapid prototyping (Raspberry Pi 3 model B+) and generated responses in real-time (11 ms) with average accuracy of 96.30% for 11 hand and wrist gestures/movements.

This article presents a systematic mapping study dedicated to conduct a literature review on machine learning and IoT applied in the identification of diseases through heart sounds. This research was conducted between January 2010 and July 2021, considering IEEE Xplore, PubMed Central, ACM Digital Library, JMIR—Journal of Medical Internet Research, Springer Library, and Science Direct. The initial search resulted in 4372 papers, and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 58 papers were selected for full reading to answer the research questions. The main results are: of the 58 articles selected, 46 (79.31%) mention heart rate observation methods with wearable sensors and digital stethoscopes, and 34 (58.62%) mention care with machine learning algorithms. The analysis of the studies based on the bibliometric network generated by the VOSviewer showed in 13 studies (22.41%) a trend related to the use of intelligent services in the prediction of diagnoses related to cardiovascular disorders.

Publisher: Vilnius University Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies, Journal: Informatics in Education, Title: Active Methodology, Educational Data Mining and Learning Analytics - A Systematic Mapping Study, Authors: Tiago Luís de ANDRADE, Sandro José RIGO, Jorge Luis Victória BARBOSA , Distance Learning has enabled educational practices based on digital platforms, generating massive amounts of data. Several initiatives use this data to identify dropout contexts, mainly providing teacher support about student behavior. Approaches such as Active Methodologies are known as having good potential to involve and motivate students. This article presents a systematic mapping aiming to identify current Educational Data Mining and Learning Analytics methods. Besides, we identify Active Methodologies’ application to mitigate dropout in Distance Learning. We evaluated 668 papers published from January 2015 to March 2020. The results indicate a growing application of Educational Data Mining and Learning Analytics to identify and mitigate students’ abandonment in Distance Learning. However, studies with Active Methodologies to minimize dropout and enhance student permanence are scarce. Some works suggest Active Methods as a possible complement of Learning Analytics in dropout.
