Jessem Landoulsi received his Ph.D. in materials science at the Technical University of Compiègne (UTC, France) in 2008. After postdoctoral work at the Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences (UCL, Belgium), he joined Sorbonne Université to work in the LRS lab. His current research interest is in probing biointerfaces at the (supra)molecular level, with the aim to deciphering the mechanisms by which inorganic materials interact with biological systems. These issues are particularly important in the context of biomaterials science and biomineralisation. He is particularly interested in (i) the behavior of bio(macro)molecules at interfaces, including lipids, peptides and proteins, (ii) their bioactivity (e.g., catalytic properties), and (iii) their ability to control mineralization processes. He mainly characterizes model biointerfaces and biological tissues through the combination of in situ and ex situ characterizations performed by means of surface science techniques.
