Dr. Maria Annunziata CARLUCCIO is a permanent researcher of the National Research Council - Institute of Clinical Physiology (CNR-IFC), Lecce (Italy), and head of Vascular Biology, Nutrigenomics and Pharmacogenomics Laboratory of CNR-IFC Lecce Unit, Lecce, Italy. She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Pisa, Italy and a Postgraduate Course in Applied Molecular Sciences at Scuola Normale Superiore- Pisa, Italy. Her main recent research interests include: pathophysiology of atherosclerotic, inflammatory, and degenerative diseases: cellular and molecular analysis; analysis of the biological activity of nutraceuticals and functional food in preclinical models of inflammatory diseases; nutrigenomics of bioactive compounds of the Mediterranean diets; heterogeneity in responsiveness to plant food bioactive; pleiotropic actions of pharmaceuticals in cardiovascular and metabolic fields; biomarkers of vascular dysfunction; and analysis of endothelial progenitor cells and therapeutic neovascularization.
