Dr. Russell Main is a Senior Remote Sensing Scientist at Scion Research, New Zealand. Before joining Scion, he was a Research Scientist at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) from 2007 to 2023. He holds a Ph.D. in Geoinformatics from the University of Pretoria. Dr. Main has a background in multi-sensor and multi-disciplinary remote sensing research in Southern Africa and New Zealand. Presently, his work revolves around the application of hyperspectral and thermal methods for the extraction of phenotypic traits in New Zealand forests.
