Professor Zhengjun Xu was born in April 1964. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1986 and was sent to Japan to study for a degree at Hokkaido University in 1988. He received a PhD in 1994. In the same year, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Biotechnology Research Institute of Akita Prefecture University, Japan. In April 1998, he worked as a researcher in the area of technology research and promotion at specific industries of biological systems in Japan. He returned to China in June 2002. From September to December 2003, he was engaged in research and exchange on cloning and the identification of stress sensitive genes as a specially invited scholar at the University of Tokyo, and from June to September 2006, he was engaged in research and exchange on cloning and the signal process of high temperature sensitive genes as a visiting professor of the University of Tokyo. In 2006, he was awarded the title of "Excellent Returned Student" of Sichuan Province. After returning to China, he has been engaged in research on rice stress biology and is now the director of the Rice Physiology Research Office of the Rice Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University.
