Biography

Emanuele Piccinno is currently a Researcher at the National Institute of Gastroenterology, “S. de Bellis” Research Hospital. He obtained his master’s degree in Biology and completed his PhD in Nanotechnology at the Università del Salento. His research activity focuses on the development of new technologies and strategies for the therapy of gastrointestinal disease (GI). Specifically, he investigates the pathogenesis of GI diseases to understand their intrinsic biological mechanisms and to define new strategies for their potential therapy. His main area of research is on the role of miRNAs in GI disease, especially IBD and CRC, through a comprehensive approach that spans from discovery to biological validation. Through the identification of novel miRNAs and the characterization of their function, Emanuele Piccinno works to elucidate the intricate molecular pathways that drive GI disease onset and progression. His activities also aimed to the evaluation of novel biomarkers and therapeutic strategies to enhance treatment efficacy in GI disease to improve patient’s outcomes.
