Automation in agriculture nowadays is the main focus and area of development for various countries. The population rate of the world is increasing rapidly and will be double in upcoming decades and the need of food is also increasing accordingly. To meet this rapid growth in demand, agriculture automation is the best solution. Traditional strategies employed by farmers are not efficient enough to fulfill the rising demand. Improper use of nutrients, water, fertilizers and pesticides disturbs the agricultural growth and the land remains barren with no fertility. This research paper presents different control strategies used to automate agriculture such as: IoT, aerial imagery, multispectral, hyperspectral, NIR, thermal camera, RGB camera, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques. Problems in agriculture like plant diseases, pesticide control, weed management, irrigation and water management can easily be solved by different automated and control techniques mentioned above. Automation by advance control strategies of agricultural methods have verified to increase the crops yield and also the soil fertility become strong. This research paper reviews and observe the work of different researchers to present a brief summary about the trends in smart agriculture and also provides the work flow and revenue of smart agriculture system in figure 15 using technologies verified by researchers in their research papers.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of smart agriculture systems and monitor and identify the technologies which can be used for deriving traditional agriculture system to modern agriculture system. It also provides the reader a broad area to work for the advancement in the field of agriculture and also explains the use of advanced technologies such as spectral imaging, robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of agriculture. Design/methodology/approach: Smart uses of modern technologies were reviewed in the field of agriculture, which helps to monitor stress levels of plants and perform operations according to requirements. Operations can be irrigation, pests spray, monitoring crops, monitoring yield production, etc. Based on the literature review, a smart agriculture system is suggested. The parameters studied were spectral image processing, AI, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs) (fixed and rotatory), water or soil moisture, nutrients and pesticides. Findings: The use of autonomous vehicles and AI techniques has been suggested through which the agriculture system becomes much more efficient. The world will switch to the smart agriculture system in the upcoming era completely. The authors conclude that autonomous vehicle in the field of science is time-saving and health efficient for both plants and workers in the fields. The suggested system increases the productivity of crops and saves the assets as well. Originality/value: This review paper discusses the various contemporary technologies used in the field of agriculture and it will help future researchers to build on this research. This paper reveals that the UAVs along with multispectral, hyperspectral or red, green and blue camera (depends on the need) and AI are more suitable for the advancement of agriculture and increasing yield rate.

Rice is one of the vital foods consumed in most countries throughout the world. To estimate the yield, crop counting is used to indicate improper growth, identification of loam land, and control of weeds. It is becoming necessary to grow crops healthy, precisely, and proficiently as the demand increases for food supplies. Traditional counting methods have numerous disadvantages, such as long delay times and high sensitivity, and they are easily disturbed by noise. In this research, the detection and counting of rice plants using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and aerial images with a geographic information system (GIS) are used. The technique is implemented in the area of forty acres of rice crop in Tando Adam, Sindh, Pakistan. To validate the performance of the proposed system, the obtained results are compared with the standard plant count techniques as well as approved by the agronomist after testing soil and monitoring the rice crop count in each acre of land of rice crops. From the results, it is found that the proposed system is precise and detects rice crops accurately, differentiates from other objects, and estimates the soil health based on plant counting data; however, in the case of clusters, the counting is performed in semi-automated mode.

Traffic density is growing day by day due to the increasing population and affordable prices of cars. It created a void for traffic management systems to cope with traffic congestion and prioritize ambulances. The consequences can be a terrible situation. Emergency vehicles are the most affected in these situations, and inadequate traffic control can put many lives at stake. Ambulances on the road are detected using an acoustic-based Artificial Intelligence system in this article. Emergency vehicle siren and road noise datasets have been developed for ambulance acoustic monitoring. The dataset is developed along with a deep learning (MLP-based) model and trained to use audio monitoring to predict the ambulance presence on the roads. This model achieved 90% accuracy when trained and validated against a developed dataset of only 300 files. With this validated algorithm, researchers can develop a real-time hardware-based model to detect emergency vehicles and make them arrive at the hospital as soon as possible.

Background: Concrete, a fundamental construction material, stands as a significant consumer of virgin resources, including sand, gravel, crushed stone, and fresh water. It exerts an immense demand, accounting for approximately 1.6 billion metric tons of Portland and modified Portland cement annually. Moreover, addressing extreme conditions with exceptionally nonlinear behavior necessitates a laborious calibration procedure in structural analysis and design methodologies. These methods are also difficult to execute in practice. To reduce time and effort, ML might be a viable option. Material and Methods: A set of keywords are designed to perform the search PubMed search engine with filters to not search the studies below the year 2015. Furthermore, using PRISMA guidelines, studies were selected and after screening, a total of 42 studies were summarized. The PRISMA guidelines provide a structured framework to ensure transparency, accuracy, and completeness in reporting the methods and results of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The ability to methodically and accurately connect disparate parts of the literature is often lacking in review research. Some of the trickiest parts of original research include knowledge mapping, co-citation, and co-occurrence. Using this data, we were able to determine which locations were most active in researching machine learning applications for concrete, where the most influential authors were in terms of both output and citations and which articles garnered the most citations overall. Conclusion: ML has become a viable prediction method for a wide variety of structural industrial applications, and hence it may serve as a potential successor for routinely used empirical model in the design of concrete structures. The non-ML structural engineering community may use this overview of ML methods, fundamental principles, access codes, ML libraries, and gathered datasets to construct their own ML models for useful uses. Structural engineering practitioners and researchers may benefit from this article’s incorporation of concrete ML studies as well as structural engineering datasets. The construction industry stands to benefit from the use of machine learning in terms of cost savings, time savings, and labor intensity. The statistical and graphical representation of contributing authors and participants in this work might facilitate future collaborations and the sharing of novel ideas and approaches among researchers and industry professionals. The limitation of this systematic review is that it is only PubMed based which means it includes studies included in the PubMed database.
