Biography

Gefeson Mendes Pacheco is a Full Professor in the Department of Microwave and Optoelectronics at the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA). He earned a bachelor's degree in Physics from the State University of Rio de Janeiro in 1985, a master's degree in Electronic Engineering and Computing from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics in 1989, and a Ph.D. in Space Science from the National Institute for Space Research in 1994. His research interests include optoelectronic devices, lasers, microwaves, and innovation in aeronautics and space. His professional achievements have led to the development of several systems of interest in the fields of aeronautics and space, such as microwave spectrum analyzers for space research, ultrasound laser systems for the non-destructive testing of aeronautical materials like aluminum and composites, and microwave photonic signal generation systems for distributed receiving stations. He has also contributed to studying and developing technology for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in telemetry, guidance, and photovoltaic generation as a complementary energy source for aircrafts with electric motors. He has established and revitalized microwave, photonics, and computational electromagnetism laboratories. Additionally, he has advised numerous master's and doctoral projects. He is a consultant for federal and state development agencies in programs aimed at technological advancement and is a member of the IEEE.
