Laura Muinelo-Romay is Head of the Liquid Biopsy Analysis Unit at Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS). She earned her degree in Biology (2003) from Univ.Vigo. She developed her doctoral thesis on the characterization of alterations of the glycosylation phenomenon in colorectal cancer, in the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Vigo. In 2009, she joined the group of Translational Medical Oncology (Oncomet) as a post-doctoral researcher where she participated in projects intended to characterize key molecular events for the processes of dissemination and metastases in colorectal and endometrial cancer. Since 2012, she has been the head of a laboratory specializing in the study of circulating biomarkers (CTCs ctDNA, cEVs) for personalized oncology in different types of cancer. In 2009, she became a post-doctoral researcher with the Translational Medical Oncology (Oncomet) group, where she participated in different projects focused on characterizing key molecular events in the processes of dissemination and metastases in colorectal and endometrial cancer. Since 2012, she has been the head of a laboratory specializing in the study of circulating biomarkers (CTCs ctDNA, cEVs) as a tool to characterize tumors, and she has carried out more personalized oncology for different types of cancer. Dr. Muinelo-Romay is an active member of scientific networks and societies, including the Liquid Biopsy working group of CIBERONC, ASEICA, ENITEC, and ELBS.
