Biography

Dr. Laura Zaccaro obtained a degree in Pharmacy and a Master's Degree in Hospital Pharmacy—Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Naples “Federico II”. Since 2001, she has been a researcher at the Institute of Biostructures and Bioimaging-CNR in Naples. In 2001–2002, she moved to the Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Barcelona, Spain, as an external scientist to work in collaboration with Prof. F. Albericio. During this time, she worked on the synthesis and structural characterization of new “foldamers”, and of peptidomimetics for TRPV1 modulation. Over the last years, she has mainly focused on the design, synthesis, structural and biological characterization of peptides/peptidomimetics and functionalized nanostructures for selective integrin targeting to employ in therapy and the diagnosis of cancer diseases, structure–activity relationship studies of zinc finger proteins from prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and synthesis and structural characterization of peptoids and glycopeptides as antimicrobials.
