José Daniel Biasoli de Mello is an Emeritus Professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia, Brazil. Currently, he also serves as a visiting professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. In 1983, he received his Doc. Ing. degree in metallurgy from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France. He acted as a Professeur Associé in the École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et Microtechniques, Besançon, France, worked as a visiting scholar at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge, UK, and served as a visiting professor (Fulbright Foundation) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA.
Prof. de Mello is vice president and member of the International Tribology Council's distinguished advisory board (ITC), a member of the editorial board of several international journals, including Lubricants, holds 11 patents, and has published more than 400 full papers in conferences, congresses, and journals. Prof. De Mello's current research topics are tribo-corrosion, in particular abrasion–corrosion, surface durability of solid lubricants, and tribological behaviour of sintered material.
