Prof. Igor B. Sivaev was born in 1964 in Kivertsy (Volyn region, Ukraine). After graduating from the Mendeleev Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology (1987) as a Chemical Engineer, he started his study of boron hydride chemistry at the Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, under the guidance of Prof. Nikolai Kuznetsov. Later, he obtained his Ph.D. at the Department of Organic Chemistry at Uppsala University under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Sjöberg (2000) and joined Prof. Vladimir Bregadze’s group at Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds, Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2014, Prof. Igor B. Sivaev received a Doctorate in Chemical Sciences (habilitation) at the Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds, Russian Academy of Sciences. Currently, he is a Leading Researcher (Research Professor) at this institute. The area of his scientific interests is the chemistry and application of polyhedral boron hydrides, including boranes, carboranes, and metallacarboranes. He was a member of the Scientific Committees of the 7th European Conference on Boron Chemistry (Suzdal, 2016) and International Conferences on phosphorus, boron, and silicon (Paris, 2017; Barcelona, 2018; Poma, 2019), and currently, he is a Member of the Advisory Board of the International Meetings on Boron Chemistry (from 2017).
