My research seeks to understand the impacts of habitat loss and habitat fragmentation on biodiversity loss in Amazonian and Atlantic Forest remnants. Specifically, I investigate the main drivers of local extinctions in tropical forest fragments, evaluating how faunal assemblages and plant communities are structured in relation to anthropogenic environmental gradients. I mainly work at the interface between tropical ecology and conservation biology, encompassing studies on mammal ecology and conservation, phytodemographic transitions, population and landscape ecology, and community-based monitoring programs.
