Information

My name is Dr. Khaled K. Al-Qattan (a professor at Kuwait University, Kuwait). I received a B.Sc. in Zoology/Microbiology (KU: 1982), an M.Sc. in Biology (Univ. NM, USA: 1985), and a Ph.D. in Physiology (Univ. Birmingham, UK: 1990). For the last 30 years, I have been an academic staff member and researcher in the Department of Biological Sciences at KU. My teaching experience relates to introductory and advanced courses in cell biology and mammalian physiology (in particular, of the excretory, cardiovascular, endocrine, and nervous systems). For the past 20 years, my research interest was directed toward investigating the biochemical and physiological actions of garlic in the condition of diabetes mellitus type-1 (and lately, toward investigating the insulinogenic action of garlic at the genetic level). I am a member of the American Physiological Society and a registered reviewer of several journals. Awards received include: scholarships, scientific competitions prizes; scientific productivity award (KFAS, Kuwait).
