Konstantinos Avgoustakis is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Patras, Patras, Greece. He received his BSc in Pharmacy, University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1985; Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics/Quality Control of Drugs, University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1991; Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Technology, London University, UK in 1992. His research interests include (a) Targeted delivery of anticancer drugs based on (i) biodegradable, polymeric, long-circulating  (“stealth”)  nanoparticles and  (ii) magnetic hybrid nanoparticles; (b) Development of novel prophylactic or therapeutic vaccines based on biodegradable and biocompatible, polymeric nano- and micro-particles; (c) Development of formulations for the efficient delivery of drugs with limited aqueous solubility; (d) Supramolecular carbon structures (fullerenes, graphenes) in controlled drug delivery.
