Biography

Dr. Eng. Liliana Lazar has been an Associate Professor since 1998 in the “Cristofor Simionescu” Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection Faculty (https://icpm.tuiasi.ro/) at the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași, Romania (www.tuiasi.ro). She obtained her PhD degree in Chemical Engineering in 2007, two postgraduate degrees in Ecological Catalysis (1998) and Anticorrosive Protection (1998), and an Engineering Diploma in Industrial Chemistry – Inorganic Substances Technology (1997). Her teaching and research interests focus on chemical and electrochemical engineering of inorganic products, including non-catalytic processes (adsorption, absorption, ion exchange, thermal dissociation), heterogeneous catalysis and catalysts, inorganic electrolysis (water electrolysis, chlor-alkali electrolysis), metal corrosion and electroplating, extraction processes for biomass valorisation, and hydrogen production processes. Her scientific contributions through research, development, and innovation include investigations of interfacial processes for thermodynamic and kinetic analysis and modelling, process modelling and simulation, as well as reactor modelling and design. Her research and innovation activities address current topics such as clean technologies, industrial decarbonization, industrial pollution control, water and electrolyte treatment, and purification and recycling of industrial material flows (waste gases, wastewater, and solid waste).
