Prof. Dr. Marina Russo received her Master Degree in Chemistry in 2007 with the vote of 110/110 at the University of Messina and in March 2011 the PhD Degree in Chemistry and Food Security at the University of Messina with a thesis dealing with “Determination of oxygen heterocyclic compounds and flavonoids in Citrus products using innovative HPLC techniques”. From February to July 2011, she was quality control manager at a Citrus essential oils company located in Messina. From March 2012 to March 2015 she had a postdoc grant from PON 01_01499 project to carry out a research activity at the Department of SCIFAR of the University of Messina. The title of the research was “Chemical characterization of by-products and processing of agro-food industry”. From June 2015 to December 2015 she had a postdoc grant from Chromaleont S.r.l. for a research activity focused on the analytical characterization of bioactive compounds in food-stuffs. From June 2016 to May 2020, she has been Assistant Professor in Food Chemistry at the Department of Science and Technology for Humans and the Environment of the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome. Since June 2020, Dr. Russo is Associate Professor in Food Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences of the University of Messina. Her research activity is primarily focused on the development of HPLC analytical methods for the characterization and isolation of nutraceuticals in functional foods.
