Virginia Lotti has been a researcher at the University of Verona in the Virology Lab in the Department of Diagnostics and Public Health since 2015. She obtained a degree in biology at the University of Florence and a PhD in Biomolecular Medicine at the University of Verona. She started working in the CF field in 2018, when she joined the research group of Prof. Claudio Sorio, to study intestinal organoids for CF theratyping. In June 2020, she moved to the Virology Lab, led by Prof. Davide Gibellini, to study SARS-CoV-2 infection in CF cell culture models. In 2023, she won a fixed-term researcher position to study the pathogenetic mechanisms of respiratory viral infections. In the meantime, she is still collaborating with Prof. Sorio’s lab to better understand the SARS-CoV-2 impact in GI tracts organoids.
