I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Palermo in 2006 and completed a neurology residency at the same university in 2012. During my last year of residency, I attended, as a visiting researcher, the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge, United Kingdom), with a focus on genetics in multiple sclerosis. I joined the neurology service at IRCCS ISMETT, a transplantation center managed by UPMC, in 2014. During the neurology clinical fellowship training, I attended the Department of Neurology, University of Pittsburgh, under Prof. Lawrence Wechsler’s leadership. In 2021, I was named Head of the Neurology Service at ISMETT. My clinical interests are neurological complications of end-stage systemic illness, perioperative neurological complications of cardiac surgery, and neurological complications after solid organ transplantations.
