Silvia Maffei hold an M.D, Degree in Medicine and Surgery, with a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pisa University. She is currently head of the Clinic of Cardiovascular Gynecological Endocrinology and Osteoporosis, a CNR (National Research Council) Foundation, in Tuscany “G. Monasterio”, Pisa (Italy). She was a researcher at the Obstetrics and Gynecology dept. of tye University of Ulm, Germany (from 1/9/1991 to 30/10/1992), and a researcher (ex art.23 c/o IFC CNR Pisa.) and professor at S. Anna Superior School of Academic and Advanced Studies, Pisa. She has previously worked in clinical activity and medical consultancy on gynecology and obstetrics at the Institute of Clinical Physiology at CNR and the Center for Menopause and Bone Health at Pisa University. Her research interest include women’s health (gynecological endocrinology, menopause, osteoporosis, cardio-metabolic risk in women, and the role of HRT in modulating CVD risk). Her memberships of professional societies include being a referent member of the Stable Committee on Gender Medicine of the Tuscany Region Health Council, vice-president and elected board member of the Italian Society for Gynecology in the Elderly (SIGITE), a board member of the Italian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (SIGO), and coordinator of the Gender Cardiovascular Disease study group at the Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC).
