Biography

My research interest focuses on understanding how human disturbance can affect animal species (using fish and amphibian as models), populations and communities. Based on comparative field surveys, I study the relationship between animal biological diversity and ecosystem functioning. Specifically, I aim at linking biodiversity with food web structure and ecosystem functioning to quantify how the alteration of biodiversity caused by human disturbance (e.g., climate change, biological invasions, and land use intensification) can affect the structure of food webs and create cascading effects that can subsequently impact ecosystem functioning (e.g., litter decomposition, nutrient fluxes, and productivity). The main research methodologies I use are field monitoring, stable isotope analyses and functional diversity metrics.
