Eduardo Bignon was born in Valdivia, Chile. He graduated from the University of Chile in 2010, as a Molecular Biotechnology Engineer. In 2015 he received his doctorate in microbiology from the University of Santiago (Chile) where he researched a bacterial antibiotic with membrane disrupting properties. He is currently doing postdoctoral work at the molecular virology lab in Fundación Ciencia & Vida (Chile), researching membrane fusion proteins from both animal and archaeal viruses
