M. Haïssam Jijakli received his PhD in Agronomy, Plant Pathology from the University of Liège in 1996. He is now a Full Professor at the University of Liège, and Director of the Laboratory of Phytopathology, Director of the Research Center in Urban Agriculture. During the last 30 years, he developed biocontrol methods based on (micro)-organisms and their derivatives to protect plants against phytopathogens. Since the beginning of his career, he participated in or coordinated in Belgium and abroad more than 60 programs, dealing with the successive steps of development of biological control (selection; formulation; mechanisms of action; IPM; monitoring tools and ecology; practical trials). His research topics mainly include urban and peri-urban agriculture, production systems for urban and peri-urban agriculture, and plant pathology in urban and peri-urban environments.
