I am a Colombian microbiologist. I was granted funding from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI) to conduct my doctoral research, which I completed under the supervision of Professor Juan Francisco Martín and Dr. Francisco Fierro. As a result, I obtained my D.Phil. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of León (Spain). I am Full Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Pamplona, where I have served as Dean of the Faculty of Basic Sciences and as faculty representative to the Academic Council. Since 2017, I have had the privilege of leading the Research Group in Microbiology and Biotechnology (GIMBIO). The central focus of my research work is the study of molecular mechanisms that regulate growth, development, and secondary metabolite production in microorganisms of industrial and agri-food interest.
