Prof. Guiping Ren holds a Doctor of Science degree in Geology (Geomaterials and Environmental Mineralogy) from Peking University. He is currently an associate professor at the School of Earth Sciences, Lanzhou University. His basic theoretical research direction is geological microbiology (mineral–microorganism interaction), and his practical application combined direction is environmental mineralogy and Geomicrobiology. He was a key research backbone of the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s major research program key support projects, the National Key Basic Research and Development Program (973) projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s key projects, and has participated in the entire process of the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s international (regional) cooperation and exchange projects. He has published papers in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Journal of Power Sources, Science of the Total Environment, Bioelectrochemistry, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Applied Geochemistry, among others. He has been granted seven patents.
