Paloma Yáñez-Sedeño received her PhD in analytical chemistry from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1984. Since 2007, she has worked as a Full Professor in the Analytical Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Chemistry at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. Her areas of interest include the development of electrochemical sensors and biosensors involving nanomaterials, applied to the determination of biomarkers of diseases. She has has led 13 projects financed by research organizations of the Spanish Government and authored over 220 peer-reviewed papers, 30 book chapters, and 2 textbooks on Analytical Chemistry. Since August 2019, she has worked as the Assistant Editor of Microchemical Journal.
