A modified Jiles-Atherton model presenting the magnetic induction as an independent variable is proposed in order to be directly used in time-stepping finite-element calculations applied to the magnetic vector potential formulation. This model is implemented in the field calculation procedure by introducing a differential reluctivity. The calculated results are validated by experiences performed in an Epstein's frame.

In this paper, we present a new vector hysteresis model, which is derived from the original Jiles-Atherton scalar one. The model presents the magnetic vector induction as the independent variable. A modified Langevin equation is used to represent the anhysteretic vector magnetization, and some model aspects are discussed. A comparison between measured and calculated curves for an anisotropic soft magnetic material is performed to validate the model.

The parameters set of the Jiles-Atherton hysteresis model is identified by using a real coded genetic algorithm. The parameters identification is performed by minimizing the mean squared error between experimental and simulated magnetic field curves. The procedure is validated by comparing experimental and simulated results.

A methodology to evaluate hysteresis losses in iron sheets under dc-biased inductions is presented in this work. Based on several experimental investigations of six different iron sheets used in the fabrication of electrical machines, an improvement of the classical Steinmetz equation is proposed. This technique can be easily employed and may be helpful for electrical machine designers.

The parameter identification of hysteresis models is a fundamental task for correct hysteretic material simulation. In vector models, as the Jiles-Atherton (J-A) vector model, the parameter determination increases in complexity since one must solve a nonlinear system with a relative large number of variables. In these cases, fitting methods one of the most attractive solution. In this study, an improved multiobjective cuckoo search (IMCS) is introduced for the J-A parameters determination. The proposed IMCS based on the Duffing's oscillator to step size tuning is verified using data from a rotational single sheet tester in two-dimensional version. Numerical comparisons of IMCS with results using a multiobjective cuckoo search demonstrated that the performance of the IMCS is promising in parameters estimation. Furthermore, the proposed IMCS method can be easily extended to solve a wide range of multiobjective optimization problems.
