Time delays exist in network-connected systems. Especially for vision-based multi-robot systems, time delays are diverse and complicated due to the communication network, camera latency, image processing, etc. At the same time, many tasks, such as searching and rescue, have timing requirement. This paper focuses on fixed-time formation control of multi-robot systems subject to delay constraints. First, predictor-based state transformation is employed for each robot to deal with the input delay and the uncertain terms remained in the transformed systems are carefully considered. Then, a couple of nonlinear fixed-time formation protocols are proposed for the multi-robot systems with respectively undirected and directed topology, and the corresponding settling time is derived by using the Lyapunov functions. In particular, the upper-bound estimation of the formation settling time is explicitly given irrelevant to the initial conditions. Finally, the protocols are validated through a numerical simulation example and then implemented on an E-puck robots platform. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed formation protocols.

In this paper, we study output feedback leader-follower consensus problem for multiagent systems subject to external disturbances and time delays in both input and output. First, we consider the linear case and a novel predictor-based extended state observer is designed for each follower with relative output information of the neighboring agents. Then, leader-follower consensus protocols are proposed which can compensate the delays and disturbances efficiently. In particular, the proposed observer and controller do not contain any integral term of the past control input and hence are easy to implement. Consensus analysis is put in the framework of Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals and sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee that the consensus errors converge to zero asymptotically. Then, the results are extended to nonlinear multiagent systems with nonlinear disturbances. Finally, the validity of the proposed design is demonstrated through a numerical example of network-connected unmanned aerial vehicles.

In this article, fixed-time cooperative guidance laws are designed for multiple missiles to simultaneously attack a maneuvering target at desired terminal angles. The 3-D guidance commands consist of tangential acceleration along line-of-sight (LOS) direction to achieve a salvo attack and normal acceleration perpendicular to the LOS direction to realize a terminal angle-constrained interception. First, the tangential acceleration is derived from a distributed cooperative protocol to guarantee the fixed-time consensus of impact times for multiple missiles. Second, based on the integral sliding manifold and fixed-time reaching law, the normal acceleration is developed for each missile to converge the LOS angle to the desired value within a fixed time. In particular, the unknown target acceleration components are estimated by fixed-time observers and compensated in the guidance commands. The fixed-time stability of the proposed cooperative guidance law is rigorously proved and the explicit estimate for the convergence time is theoretically provided. Then, the proposed methods are utilized to realize the cooperative mission in the planar guidance scenario. Finally, the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed cooperative guidance laws are demonstrated through numerical simulations with comparative studies.

This paper deals with the consensus control design for Lipschitz nonlinear multi-agent systems with input delay. The Artstein-Kwon-Pearson reduction method is employed to deal with the input delay and the integral term that remains in the transformed system is analyzed by using Krasovskii functional. Upon exploring certain features of the Laplacian matrix, sufficient conditions for global stability of the consensus control are identified using Lyapunov method in the time domain. The proposed control only uses relative state information of the agents. The effectiveness of the proposed control design is demonstrated through a simulation study.

In this paper, the group consensus problems of heterogeneous multi-agent systems with fixed and switching topologies are investigated. First, a class of distributed group consensus protocol is proposed for achieving the group consensus of heterogeneous multi-agent systems by using the neighbours’ information. Then, some corresponding sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee the achievement of group consensus. Rigorous proofs are given by using graph theory, matrix theory and Lyapunov theory. Finally, numerical simulations are also given to verify the theoretical analysis.
