Ana Luísa Fialho Amaral de Areia started her activity as a gynaecology and obstetrics assistant in March 2009 at Coimbra University Centre, where she remains working to this day. Her research is centred on preterm birth, and she has a master's degree in medicine and a PhD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra. Regarding maternal–foetal medicine, she is first author of 10 maternal–foetal medicine articles published in indexed international journals; the first author of 4 book chapters; has given 17 invited lectures; and has written 24 clinical protocols (19 in the institution and 5 national recommendations). She has also supervised 18 theses for integrated master's in medicine on maternal–foetal medicine. She is currently supervising two doctoral theses.
