Ammar Y. ALQAHTANI works as a Higher Education Manager in Human Capability Development for the Royal Commission for AlUla based in Saudi Arabia. Prior to this, he held the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. Ammar holds a B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from King Abdulaziz University, an M.Sc. from the University of Houston, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University. Currently, Ammar is focused on promoting human capability development in the field of higher education within the Royal Commission for AlUla. He has an impressive research background and has made significant contributions in areas such as sustainable operations, environmentally conscious manufacturing, product recovery, reverse logistics, closed-loop supply chains (CLSC), simulations, and statistical analysis. Ammar has actively participated in various conferences, including NEDSI, POMS, DSI, and IISE, where he served as a Session Chair. He has also acted as a review for scientific journals such as Computer and Industrial Engineering, Decision Sciences, and the Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management. During his time at Northeastern University, Ammar was awarded the 2017 Alfred Ferretti Awards for Excellence in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, as well as the 33rd Quality & Productivity Research conference award from the American Statistical Association.
