Marta Lomnytska, MD, PhD, is an Adjunct Lecturer at Uppsala University and a Gynecologic Cancer Surgeon. She obtained her medical degree and PhD in medicine and established a career that combines advanced gynecologic cancer surgery with translational research. She has extensive clinical experience in the management of ovarian cancer and has led numerous research projects evaluating surgical strategies, diagnostic biomarkers, and treatment outcomes. Her current research interests include ovarian cancer diagnostics, platelet-derived extracellular vesicle biomarkers, cytoreductive surgery, postoperative complication prediction, and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), including leadership roles within the
international OVHIPEC-2 Phase III study. Her previous research included proteomics-based discovery of biomarkers of ovarian cancers. She collaborates extensively nationally and internationally, has secured financial support for the research project as PI, and is a main supervisor of three PhD students, one of whom is defending in 2026.
