The dependence of magnetization on the variation of temperature for La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 and La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 perovskite-type ceramic materials under an external magnetic field was modelled. Application of phenomenological model was performed, showing a good agreement with the experimental data. Temperature dependence of change of both magnetic entropy and specific heat under magnetic field 0.05 T was predicted for La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 and La0.67Sr0.33MnO3. Predicted values of maximum magnetic entropy change, full-width at half-maximum, relative cooling power and maximum specific heat under 0.05 T were evaluated.
In this work, a phenomenological model is applied to describe the magnetocaloric effect for the La0.75Ca0.25MnO3 system near a second-order phase transition from a ferromagnetic to a paramagnetic state. Based on this model, it can predict the values of the magnetocaloric properties from calculation of magnetization as a function of temperature under different external magnetic fields. The magnetic entropy change reaches a peak of about 5.39 J/(kg·K) at 257 K upon 4 T applied field variation. The ΔSM distribution is much more uniform than that of gadolinium, which is desirable for an Ericson-cycle magnetic refrigerator.
The magnetocaloric properties for the Eu-doped La0.65−xEuxSr0.35MnO3 samples with x = 0.05, 0.15, 0.20, and 0.30 upon 0.05T magnetic field have been investigated. It is found that the Eu doping in this system decreases the magnetocaloric properties lightly. Moreover, the results of Eu doping clearly indicate that the magnetocaloric effect in this system is tunable, which is beneficial for manipulating magnetocaloric refrigeration that occurs in various temperature ranges. This makes the La0.65−xEuxSr0.35MnO3 samples potential candidates for practical applications. A complete characterization of the magnetic properties of this material aids to the understanding required for the technological exploitation of such materials, and it suggests La0.65−xEuxSr0.35MnO3 perovskite as the promising magnetic refrigerant.

The enhanced low-field magnetocaloric effect was investigated for double perovskite Sr2FeMoO6 - silver (SFMO/Ag) composites with 0, 5 and 10 wt.% of Ag. A phenomenological model was used to predict magnetocaloric properties of SFMO/Ag composites, such as magnetic entropy change, heat capacity change and relative cooling power. It was shown that magnetic entropy change (?S M) peaks of SFMO/Ag span over a wide temperature region, which can significantly improve the global efficiency of the magnetic refrigeration. Furthermore, the ?S M distribution of the SFMO/Ag composites is much more uniform than that of gadolinium. Through these results, SFMO/Ag composite has some potential application for magnetic refrigerants in an extended high-temperature range.
