Christo Muller obtained a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2004. Currently, he is employed as a Chief Specialist Scientist at the South African Medical Research Council and holds two Honorary Associate Professor appointments at the University of Stellenbosch and the University of Zululand in South Africa. His research focusses on the pathophysiology, prevention and treatment of metabolic conditions such as insulin resistance, dysbiosis, obesity and type 2 diabetes, with a particular interest in the health-promoting effects of natural products and phenolic compounds and the development of novel therapeutics. He has published 118 peer-reviewed articles, two book chapters and has graduated 15 M.Sc. and 6 Ph.D. students.
