Due to increasingly complex factors of image degradation, inferring high-frequency details of remote sensing imagery is more difficult compared to ordinary digital photos. This paper proposes an adaptive multi-scale feature fusion network (AMFFN) for remote sensing image super-resolution. Firstly, the features are extracted from the original low-resolution image. Then several adaptive multi-scale feature extraction (AMFE) modules, the squeeze-and-excited and adaptive gating mechanisms are adopted for feature extraction and fusion. Finally, the sub-pixel convolution method is used to reconstruct the high-resolution image. Experiments are performed on three datasets, the key characteristics, such as the number of AMFEs and the gating connection way are studied, and super-resolution of remote sensing imagery of different scale factors are qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed. The results show that our method outperforms the classic methods, such as Super-Resolution Convolutional Neural Network(SRCNN), Efficient Sub-Pixel Convolutional Network (ESPCN), and multi-scale residual CNN(MSRN).

We present a continuous-wave fiber cavity ringdown (FCRD) pressure-sensing method based on frequency-shifted interferometry (FSI). Compared with traditional CRD or FCRD techniques, this FSI-FCRD scheme deduces pressure by measuring the decay rate of continuous light exiting the fiber ringdown cavity (RDC) in the spatial domain (i.e., the CRD distance), without the requirement for optical pulsation and fast electronics. By using a section of fiber with the buffer layer stripped in the fiber RDC as the sensor head, pressures were measured within the range from 0 to 10.4 MPa. The sensitivity of 0.02356/(km∙MPa) was obtained with a measurement error of 0.1%, and the corresponding pressure resolution was 0.05 MPa. It was found that the measurement sensitivity can be improved by enlarging the interaction length of the sensor head. The results show the proposed sensor has the advantages of simple structure, low cost, high sensitivity, and high stability in pressure detection.

To establish stable communication networks in harsh environments where power supply is difficult, such as coal mines and underwater, we propose an effective scheme for co-transmission of analog audio signals and energy. By leveraging the advantages of optical fibers, such as corrosion resistance and strong resistance to electromagnetic interference, the scheme uses a 1550 nm laser beam as the carrier for analog audio signal propagation, which is then converted to electrical energy through a custom InGaAs/InP photovoltaic power converter (PPC) for energy supply and information transfer without an external power supply after a 25 km fiber transmission. In the experiment, with 160 mW of optical power injection, the scheme not only provides 4 mW of electrical power, but also transmits an analog signal with an acoustic overload point (AOP) of 105 dBSPL and a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 50 dB. In addition, the system employs wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology to transform from single-channel to multi-channel communication on a single independent fiber, enabling the arraying of receiving terminals. The passive arrayed terminals make the multi-channel long-distance audio transmission system using power-over-fiber (PoF) technology a superior choice for establishing a stable communication network in harsh environments.

This paper presents a novel improvement in the optical path structure of a three-wavelength symmetric demodulation method applied to extrinsic Fabry–Perot interferometer (EFPI) fiber optic acoustic sensors. The traditional approach of using couplers to construct the phase difference in the symmetric demodulation method is replaced with a new approach that combines the symmetric demodulation algorithm with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. This improvement addresses the issue of a suboptimal coupler split ratio and phase difference, which can affect the accuracy and performance of the symmetric demodulation method. In an anechoic chamber test environment, the symmetric demodulation algorithm implemented with the WDM optical path structure achieved a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 75.5 dB (1 kHz), a sensitivity of 1104.9 mV/Pa (1 kHz), and a linear fitting coefficient of 0.9946. In contrast, the symmetric demodulation algorithm implemented with the traditional coupler-based optical path structure achieved an SNR of 65.1 dB (1 kHz), a sensitivity of 891.75 mV/Pa (1 kHz), and a linear fitting coefficient of 0.9905. The test results clearly indicate that the improved optical path structure based on WDM technology outperforms the traditional coupler-based optical path structure in terms of sensitivity, SNR, and linearity.

Controlling the surface traps in metal halide perovskites (MHPs) is essential for device performance, stability, and commercialization. Here, a facile approach is introduced to passivate the methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) perovskite single crystal (PSC) surface defects by benzylamine (BA) ligand treatment, and the natural crystallographic (100) facets surface of PSC is chosen as the research platform to provide a deeper understanding of the passivation process. The confocal photoluminescence (PL) results show that the pristine three-dimensional (3D) MAPbI3 PSC surface with a symmetric emission spectrum is normally converted to a pure two-dimensional (2D) BA2PbI4, and also forms a quasi-2D Ruddlesden–Popper perovskite (RPP) BA2MAn−1PbnI3n+1 (n = 2, 3, 4, … ∞) after BA exchange with cation defects. The blue shift in the PL peak, as well as the extended exciton lifetimes of time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL), indicate the realization of surface defect passivation. Additionally, changes in surface morphology are also investigated. The reaction starts with the formation of small, layered crystallites over the surface; as time elapses, the layered crystallites spread and merge in contact with each other, eventually resulting in smooth features. Our findings present a simple approach for MAPbI3 PSC surface defect passivation, which aims to advance MHP optimization processes toward practical perovskite device applications.
