Jane M. Williams is the head of research and an associate professor at Hartpury University. She completed her Master’s studies at Hartpury University in 2009 and earned her Ph.D. at the University of the West of England (UWE) in 2015. She is the co-editor and author of Training for Equestrian Performance and The Complete Textbook of Animal Health and Welfare, a former honorary president of the International Society of Equitation Science, and a founding member of the Sporthorse Welfare Foundation. Her research focuses on enhancing horse and rider performance and wellbeing, and she is keen that research should not just be for academics. She works regularly with riders and trainers across showjumping, eventing, and racing to help them improve their horses’ success. She has taught in higher education across animal, equine, and veterinary fields.
