Adam Kaliński, Department of Experimental Zoology and Evolutionary Biology, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Łódź.
My research area covers issues related to secondary hole-nesting bird species. The main four species I work with are the Great Tit Parus major, the Blue Tit Cyanistes caeruleus, pied flycatcher Ficedula hypoleuca, and European starling Sturnus vulgaris. I study breeding biology (in a broad context) and the ecophysiology of the above-mentioned species. My scientific interests also include the microbiomes of hole-nesting species, including both gut and nest microbiomes.
My academic degrees:
1998: M.Sc. in environmental biology, Department of Ecology and Vertebrate Zoology, Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences, University of Lodz, Poland.
Subject: ‘An attempt of explanation of the breeding effectivity of common buzzard Buteo buteo and the goshawk Accipiter gentilis and the variation of their nest height location’.
2003: PhD in biological sciences, specialization in zoology, ecology, and ornithology, Department of Experimental Zoology and Evolutionary Biology, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Lodz, Poland.
Subject: ‘Sources of variation in breeding traits of the blue tit Parus caeruleus and the great tit Parus major’.
