Dr Gustavo Ciudad is an assistant professor at the chemical engineering department from La Frontera University, Chile. Since 2007, he has been working on projects related to bioenergy and agroindustrial waste valorization through the biorefinery concept. He was the director of the waste management and bioenergy center BIOREN-UFRO and is the current director of the Environmental Institute at La Frontera university. Additionally, he had internships (Erasmus Mundus and internal found) in various countries, such as Norway, Germany, and Spain, in which he worked in biotechnology and chemical processes for the development of new biorefinery routes.
