Recently, the discovery of organometallic halide perovskites provides promising routes for fabricating optoelectronic devices with low cost and high performance. Previous experimental studies of MAPbI3 optoelectronic devices, such as photodetectors and solar cells, are normally based on polycrystalline films. In this work, a high-performance planar-type photodetector fabricated on the (100) facet of a MAPbI3 single crystal is proposed. We demonstrate that MAPbI3 photodetector based on single crystal can perform much better than that on polycrystalline-film counterpart. The low trap density of MAPbI3 single crystal accounts for the higher carrier mobility and longer carrier diffusion length, resulted in a significant performance increasement of MAPbI3 photodetector. Compared with similar planar-type photodetectors based on MAPbI3 polycrystalline film, our MAPbI3 single crystal photodetector showed excellent performance with good stability and durability, broader response spectrum to near-infrared region, about 102 times higher responsivity and EQE and approximately 103 times faster response speed. These results may pave the way for exploiting high-performance perovskites photodetectors based on single crystal.

The elastic strain sustainable in crystal lattices is usually limited by the onset of inelastic yielding mediated by discrete dislocation activity, displacive deformation twinning and stress-induced phase transformations, or fracture associated with flaws. Here we report a continuous and gradual lattice deformation in bending nickel nanowires to a reversible shear strain as high as 34.6%, which is approximately four times that of the theoretical elastic strain limit for unconstrained loading. The functioning deformation mechanism was revealed on the atomic scale by an in situ nanowire bending experiments inside a transmission electron microscope. The complete continuous lattice straining process of crystals has been witnessed in its entirety for the straining path, which starts from the face-centred cubic lattice, transitions through the orthogonal path to reach a body-centred tetragonal structure and finally to a re-oriented face-centred cubic structure.
Photothermoelectric materials have important applications in many fields. Here, we joined a silver nanostructure film and a carbon nanotube film by van der Waals force to form a heterojunction, which shows excellent photothermal and photoelectric conversion properties. The local temperature difference and the output photovoltage increase rapidly when the heterojunction is irradiated by lasers with wavelengths ranging from ultraviolet to terahertz. The maximum temperature difference reaches 215.9 K, which is significantly higher than that of other photothermoelectric materials reported in the literature. The photothermal and photoelectric responsivity depend on the wavelength of lasers, which are 175~601 K W-1 and 9.35~40.4 mV W-1, respectively. We demonstrate that light absorption of the carbon nanotube is enhanced by local surface plasmons, and the output photovoltage is dominated by Seebeck effect. The proposed heterostructure can be used as high-efficiency sensitive photothermal materials or as ultra-wideband fast-response photoelectric materials.
