Dongwoo Kim received a Ph.D. in wireless communications by providing efficient power allocation methods for CDMA systems from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea, in 1994. From 1994 to 2000, he was with Shinsegi Telecomm, Inc., Seoul, where he was involved in designing, developing, testing, and optimizing Korea's world-first commercial CDMA cellular systems. Since March 2000, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Hanyang University, ERICA, Korea. In 2007, he worked as a guest professor at the Department of Communications Systems, KTH, Stockholm, Sweden. He has been a principal investigator for over 40 industry-funded research projects and was an outside director for the manufacturing companies of wireless communication networks and systems. In 2017, he served as an advisory member of the intelligent environment management task force team at the Ministry of Environment. He has published more than 180 peer-reviewed academic papers. He also served as an Editor for the Journal of Communications and Networks and is an editorial board member for Electronics and a special issue in Sensors.
