Dr. Shuxun Yu received his B.S. degree from Huazhong Agricultural University in 1979 and his Ph.D. from Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University in 2003. He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2011. He is the chairman of the China Cotton Society, the chief expert of the Cotton Production Expert Advisory Group of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the chief scientist of the cotton system of the National Modern Agricultural Industrial Technology System. In 2014, he was honored as a National Distinguished Technician. He has long been engaged in genetic breeding research on cotton short-season cotton.
