Dr. Niall Holmes is a Discipline Lead (Structural Engineering) in the School of Transport & Civil Engineering at the Technological University, Dublin. Niall’s research is in the thermodynamic modelling of cement hydration and concrete durability to improve the performance and environmental impact of cementitious materials. Niall has secured over EUR 8.5m in research grants from a number of sources, including Science Foundation Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and other sources. He has over 100 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, conference proceedings, books and technical reports. He has supervised two PhD projects and ten Masters to completion. He is currently supervising three PhD and two Masters students, as well as a postdoctoral researcher.
