Dr. Rolands Kromanis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Management, University of Twente. He was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Nottingham Trent University. He received his B.Eng. (Hons) in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Bradford, M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from the University of Dundee, and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with Computer Sciences from the University of Exeter. His research focuses on the structural performance evaluation of bridges using measurements from continuous monitoring, applications of computer vision-based techniques, and structural health monitoring of inland navigation structures. He is leading the Structural Health Monitoring of Smart Infrastructure team at University of Twente. He is a member of the Sensing and Computing for Intelligent Infrastructure research group, University of Exeter, a review editor for Frontiers in Built Environment, Structural Sensing Section, and a reviewer for engineering-related journals from Elsevier, ASCE, Taylor and Francis, Sage, and Springer publishers.
