Sustainable, stable, and cost-optimized operation of power grids must be the main objectives of power grid operators and electric utilities. The energy transition towards a preponderant green energy economy requires innovative solutions to enhance the power grid economic dispatches looking for a better allocation of the energy demand among the diverse renewable and fossil fuel energy plants. Green renewable energy systems must be preferred over fossil fuel generators when they are available. However, fossil plants are still required to be kept operational due to the variability and uncertainty of renewable energy plants. This study proposes a hybrid rational economic dispatch model that combines a cost minimization linear model enhanced with a fuzzy logic system for decision-making on wind and hydropower minimum and maximum generation levels. The model considers the intermittency of wind energy and recognizes the strategic value of hydropower as energy storage. The results of the model with real data taken from wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, nuclear, bioenergy, and fossil fuel power plants in the eastern region of Mexico show that a fairer, rational, and cost-optimized power grid economic dispatch can be achieved with the proposed approach.

Optimization of energy resources is a priority issue for our society. An improper imbalance between demand and power generation can lead to inefficient use of installed capacity, waste of fuels, worse effects on the environment, and higher costs. This paper presents the preliminary results of a study of seventeen interconnected power generation plants situated in eastern Mexico. The aim of the research is to apply a linear programming model to find the system-optimal solution by minimizing operating costs for this grid of power plants. The calculations were made taking into account the actual parameters of each plant; the demand and production of energy were analyzed in four time periods of 6 h during a day. The results show the cost-optimal configuration of the current power infrastructure obtained from a simple implementation model in MATLAB® software. The contribution of this paper is to adapt a lineal progamming model for an electrical distribution network formed with different types of power generation technology. The study shows that fossil fuel plants, besides emitting greenhouse gases that affect human health and the environment, incur maintenance expenses even without operation. The results are a helpful instrument for decision-making regarding the rational use of available installed capacity.

Financial education is an essential component for making informed economic decisions. This quantitative study examines how the level of financial education and absorption capacity influences the strategic use of resources among young scholarship recipients in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. The findings reveal that the cognitive dimension is decisive, while the institutional environment shows limited influence. It is concluded that strengthening financial education from a comprehensive perspective can improve not only individual resource management but also contribute to greater economic efficiency and social sustainability in vulnerable contexts.

Technological advancements and the demand for faster service processes have raised quality and response standards in companies. This research presents a case study in a manufacturing firm aimed at improving customer service indicators through the implementation of Six Sigma methodology, specifically the DMAIC cycle. Results show significant improvements in response times, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency, highlighting the importance of systematization and a structured approach to optimizing service processes in competitive and dynamic environments.

In this work, an optimization model based on linear programming is proposed applied to the eastern energy generation zone in Mexico. This model is formulated from the division into different regions that make up the study area and allows for scheduling the production of the plants in various time periods, minimizing operating costs. The division of the area consists of four regions where each one has various generation technologies, described with their parameters. The model establishes linear operating restrictions for the operation of the plants and restrictions that guarantee satisfying the demand for each region in each established period, through an analysis of the demand of the area, taking into account different costs at the time of generation and allocation of power. The results of the model show the transfers of electrical energy between the regions for an efficient economic dispatch of the area, this being a useful instrument for making decisions with a sustainable perspective in the efficient allocation of energy resources.
