Matthias Gross is Professor of Environmental Sociology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig, and by joint appointment, the University of Jena, Germany. His recent research focuses on senses and society, alternative energy systems, and the role of ignorance in decision-making. Among his recent books are the Oxford Handbook of Energy and Society (Oxford University Press, 2018), edited together with Debra J. Davidson, and the new edition of the Routledge International Handbook of Ignorance Studies (Routledge, 2023), edited together with Linsey McGoey.
