David Meeker received the B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, in 1990, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA, in 1993 and 1996, respectively. He has been at QinetiQ North America, Waltham, MA, USA since 1998, where his present role is Principal Scientist. He is involved the design, analysis, and control of novel electric machines, sensors, and robots. He is also the author of the magnetics finite element analysis program FEMM, which has been used by various authors in many publications.
