Paulo Matafome holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra). He is a Researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, an Integrated member of CIBB (research center of the University of Coimbra), and an Invited Auxiliary Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra. He is interested in studying the mechanisms of metabolic programming, vascular dysfunction, and insulin resistance in diabetes, the neuroendocrine mechanism controlling the gut–adipose tissue crosstalk, and new nutritional strategies that form therapeutic strategies to prevent obesity, adipose tissue dysfunction, and its consequences.
