Weiqiu Chen is a Professor at the Department of Engineering Mechanics, Zhejiang University. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Zhejiang University in 1990 and 1996, respectively. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The University of Tokyo (1997–1999). He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1999 and Full Professor in 2000. He has engaged himself in the mechanics of soft materials and structures, the mechanics of smart materials/structures, vibration/waves in structures, and tunable and active metamaterials for nearly thirty years. He has co-authored over 450 peer-reviewed journal articles and three English books on the elasticity of transversely isotropic materials, piezoelectricity, and Green’s functions, respectively. He now serves as the Editorial Member (or Associate Editor-in-Chief) of more than 15 academic journals including the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, Journal of Zhejiang University SCIENCE A, Journal of Thermal Stresses, Aerospace Research Communications, Composite Structures, Engineering Structures, Applied Mathematics, and Mechanics (English Edition).
